Where Are They Now?

Michael Hughes, formerly of Gisborne, and who recently spent two years in London, returns to the U.K. later this year. Michael was an active member of the Aotearoa Maori Concert Party while in London. Well known in Maori circles in Wellington, he has been associated with various Maori clubs in the capital and has been a regular performer with the Ngati Poneke Young Maori Club, having served on the committee as assistant secretary. He is the immediate past secretary of the Ngati Riatana Catholic Maori Club and was a member of the Central Council of Federated Catholic Maori Clubs of N.Z. As a social worker he was secretary to the Catholic Maori Missioner of Wellington and the South Island. Michael is the youngest in the family of Mrs I Hughes, 71 The Esplanade, and the late Mr L. T. Hughes, and is with the External Affairs, Wellington.

Leading Seaman Gary Pettis, formerly of Gisborne, is now on the Otago and based at the moment at Singapore. Gary is married to the former Judith Buckingham, daughter of Mrs K. Buckingham, Wainui Beach, and the late Mr P. Buckingham, Gary is an ex-New Zealand indoor basketball rep and has been playing for the English Royal Navy since being based in Singapore. Judith and their two sons live in Auckland while Gary is at sea.
