Awards Given To Venturers

The Gisborne District Venturers assembled in the Aero Club hall recently to witness the presentation of Civil Defence certificates to 14 of their members. The certificates, which were presented by the Civil Defence Organiser, Mr M. V. Waldron, were awarded after the boys had passed various exams and tests.

At the same assembly the Gisborne District Scout Commissioner, Mr Jim Stevens, presented Barry Stichbury with his Queen's Scout Badge. Barry is the son of Mr and Mrs R. Stichbury, 758 Childers Road.

Mr Stevens, Barry Stichbury, Mrs and Mr Stichbury, and Barry's brother Ian who also was awarded his Queen's Scout badge a couple of years ago.

Civil Defence certificates were awarded to Robert Greening, Alex Robertson, Graham Stichbury and Keith Rasmussen.

Three others were Harvey James, Peter Wallace and Murray Robertson.
