Jaycees

A recent project by Jaycee members was a clean-up of the drive at the showgrounds to clear away storm damage over the drive and among the trees. More than thirty Jaycees attended the project and some of those are, from left, Des Chiles, Ian Duncan, Arthur Lamont, Brian Lerwill, Don Thorburn, Ken Carpendale. Ted Mehrtens, Seton Clare, John Jennings, Ian Flockhart, Owen Williams, Roger Stewart, Jim Stuart and Morris Bramwell.

Chairman for the tea-meeting of July 23 was Morris Bramwell (left) who is pictured with guest speakers Cecil Brown and Keith Woodward. They spoke very entertainingly on their British Isles All Black tour.

Perfect in almost every detail, this model of Captain Cook's Endeavour was given to Jaycees recently by Mr Guy Smith to do with what they thought fit. The Jaycees presented it to the library where it will be kept on display. President John Jennings hands over the model to the chairman of the library committee, the Mayor, Mr H. H. Barker, and the librarian, Miss R. S. Mackay.

Jaycees who went to Napier for the Poverty Bay-Hawke's Bay Ranfurly Shield game all voted the whole venture a great day. Among those who went were from left, at back, John Jennings, Rex Lucinsky, Owen Williams, Trevor Caley, Arthur Lamont, Bob Knight, Les Castles, Ian Kinloch, Russell Searle, Paul Rose, Roger Stewart, Chris Press, Gary Green, Graeme Castles, Neil Russell, Laurie Stuart, David Morley, Graham Urry, and, in front, Des Chiles, John Webby, Don Morley, Zeke McAneney, Roy Jarvie, Jim McAneney and Don Thorburn.
