Gasson, executive officer of the committee, also of Wellington, visited Gisborne recently to meet members of the local savings committee and discuss preparations for savings week which is due to be held in October. Peter Read, Wellington Astronomer well known for his TV programme "The Night Sky", visited Gisborne recently to lecture on astronomy to a public meeting organised by the Gisborne Astronomical Society.
