The Mayor, Mr R. E. Shortt, was recently in the Queen's Honours list. Mr Shortt was awarded the M.B.E.
Mr J. Duley demonstrates a pneumatic hacksaw which was given to the Fire Brigade by the Wairoa Lions Club.
A tenderising machine has been installed at Swift's. The machine injects the meat with a special solution which breaks up the meat fibres.
Tenderised meat is removed from the machine then stacked in draining trays.
