"Merrie England"

Fine Rendition Of

The Gisborne Choral Society gave two excellent performances of Edward German's "Merrie England" on July 18 and 20. Staged in the Y.M.C.A. stadium, the two act presentation by the society gave audiences a memorable treat. The leading singers impressed in the solos, duets and quartets.

The four leading female singers were Ethel Jackson and Niomi Hudson (altos), and Mary Quinn and Leaonie Small (sopranos).

Both Derek Allan (bass) at left, and Revel Rice (tenor) impressed the audience with their range and control.
