Pipeline

×

Now getting well out into the country, the new pipeline designed to carry Gisborne's water supply from Waingake to the city is currently being laid alongside the roadway about six miles above Manutuke, in the Te Arai Valley. Section nearer town, across paddocks, has still to be piped.
Completion of pipeline to headworks at Waingake will mark end of present proposals, which do not yet embrace measures for improving water transportation above Waingake, where open sections give trouble.
Work being done at present, however, will result in enormous increase in volume of water reaching city.
