Pigeon Parade

The large number of entries in the Poverty Bay Poultry, Pigeon and Cage Bird Association's show held in the Sheep-farmers' wool store in Innes Street made the show very successful.

Entries came from all parts of the country and the standard of the birds was high.

This pigeon of Laurie Edmonds, Wanganui, was judged the best colour bird in show. It was also the New Zealand champion for best coloured homer old bird.

"Kingy" Mullins of Palmerston North took best bird in show with this Rhode Island Red rooster.

"Snow"-Wooster got the award for his bird which was the best bantam in show.

The first pet show run in conjunction with the bird show was won by Jenny Arnold with her pony. This was for the best pet overall. Second prize in the overall went to Sally Cairns (left in the picture below right), while first and second in the feathered section went to Linda and Glen Turnwald.
