Miss G. E. Clifford-Jones retired recently as nursing inspector with the Department of Health. She was honoured with a function in the department's conference room where speeches and presentations were made. From left are Dr B. Retiring after 42 years with the Post Office is Noel Oldridge. He has spent the last 35 years in Gisborne, being staff welfare officer since 1959. At a presentation function held at the Post Office, where a gift of a car radio was made, some of the speakers were, from left, Mr R. W. Nicol, and Mrs Nicol, the Postmaster, Mr A. A. Geerie, Mr and Mrs Oldridge, Mrs Geerie, Mr J. Lynch and Mr A. R. Mudford.

Recent visitors of Mr and Mrs E. Barber, 255 Lytton Road, were Mr and Mrs R. E. McGuire. They were on their way back to Australia after 4½ years in Honiara (Guadalcanal), which was also a television documentary subject recently. Pictured are members of the three families (who are all direct relations) who met for the first time for twelve years. Mrs Esther Barber (back), Mrs Margerie Stuart (left) with her three daughters Esther, Meryce and Lana, and Mr Ron McGuire.

Mrs Stuart also has in her possession a painting of herself done when she was 14 years old. It was done on board the Monowai in 1951 by the well known artist Martin Roestenburg who died a few years ago.
