Blackpool's Second Visit

The H.M.N.Z.S. Blackpool, Gisborne's adopted ship, paid her second visit to the city recently. A presentation in the form of a minimoke was made to the ship's complement by the Mayor, Mr H. H. Barker. Commander D. J. Cheney accepted the vehicle on behalf of the company.

The second day of the Blackpool's visit coincided with the change-over of the navy from the former ensign to the new one. The lowering of the old flag and the raising of the new one took place at 11am in a short ceremony at the ship's flag mast.
