Found by Kevin Houlahan, 13, of Wallis Road, was this large toadstool which measured nine inches in diameter and five inches in depth. It was striking in colour being a brilliant orage red with white spots.

Ploughed up by Mr J. Brodie, a market gardener of Patutahi, recently, was this giant kumara weighing 8¼lbs. It's a long time since we've seen a kumara as big as this one.

It must have been the season for oversized plants everywhere as this mushroom, which measured 11 inches across and was brought into us by Mr Fred Farmer of 70 Atkinson Street, was among the crop of giant plants we have seen this year. The size of it is indicated by the matchbox.

From Mrs T. J. McCreedy of 594 Gladstone Road come these two pictures she took up at Manurewa recently. The one on the left is of an unusual new restaurant which is built in the modernistic shape of a buffalo (at the right end), where, Mrs McCreedy says, the service is terrific, and the picture on the right shows the old chuck wagon which stands on the roadside to advertise the restaurant.
