Then And Now

A totally different scene presents itself on the Reads Quay-Childers Road corner today compared to that presenting itself 60 years ago.

The new telephone exchange (above) stands efficient and gleaming while next door is the very modern fully airconditioned courthouse. Quite a change from the Borough Council Building (below) which was erected in 1908, and the Government Buildings next door which were later destroyed by fire.
