There appears to be not a great deal wrong with the buildings in these four top pictures until you realise that they've all had their verandahs ripped off. The four businesses are Ted Dever's Tearooms (top left). Sam Thornton's Grocery Store (top right), Maurie Soames's Dairy (above left), and John Smith's Billiards and Hairdressing shop.

At Titirangi station the roof of the garage which was situated by the homestead (extreme right) was hurled through the air and smashed through the roof of the woolshed (left).
