Then and Now

The picture above, taken at the turn of the century, shows a complete contrast from the one taken below, recently. Looking up Gladstone Road from the Kaiti bridge, one or two of the old buildings are still standing but the majority of them have been built since then. Among those still standing is the building occupied by the Eastern Building Society, on the extreme right, part of the building on the extreme left which has been incorporated into the present Farmer's building, and further up the street the Coronation Hotel.
