The Best of Good Jumping

The cream of the country's jumping talent, both horses and ponies, was in great fettle at the New Zealand Horse Society's Horse of the Year show held over three days at the Gisborne Showgrounds.

Jubilation was great in local circles when Walnut, ridden by his owner, Stuart Mitchell, annexed the honoured title. In a jump-off, Walnut gave a faultless round to beat another good jumper in Town Boy ridden by Colin Clarke of Te Awamutu.

The Pony of the Year, Snowstorm, ridden by his owner, Phillip Cram of Te Puke, gave a grand display of jumping, and also took the Agnes Busby Memorial Cup.
