A bloke who turned his hand to cake icing with supreme artistry was George Carruthers of Island Road. He made an exceptional job of icing his daughter Edith's wedding cake. Hours of work went in to the intricate job which featured a doll bride with a crinoline, all in icing, on top of the cake.

Celebrating her 21st birthday is Lilus McMillan, daughter of Mr and Mrs P. McMillan, 17 Albert Street.

Busy preparing biblical maps for lectures during the centennial celebrations of the Ringatu Church at Murlwai are Mrs Maaka Jones and Messrs Paul de la Mere, and Wi and Rangi Kingi. The centenary, which celebrates the establishment of the church by Te Kooti, and the return by him from the Chatham Islands, takes place on July 2.
