Senior Citizens Celebrate

Pride of place on this page goes without saying to Miss Catherine Sherriff who recently celebrated her 100th birthday. Congratulations! Miss Sherriff, who spent most of her life in Auckland, came to Gisborne about 14 years ago. She had a place of her own until about two years ago when she took up residence at Dunblane. However, these past months have been spent up at Cook Hospital where her many relations and friends gathered to wish her well on her centenary. Pictured with Miss Sherriff is her great-great naphew, Jason Sherriff, while at back is Jason's mother, Mrs Paul Sherriff.

Reaching the good age of 85 recently was Mrs Elizabeth Trowell who lives at Te Wiremu. Visitors to help her celebrate the day were, at back, Mesdames Lottie Bignell (daughter), Olive Trowell (daughter-in-law), and Betty Allen (daughter), while in front with Mrs Trowell (left) is the Mayoress, Mrs H. H. Barker, whom Mrs Trowell used to teach at school.

From Mrs Agnes Lunam, now living in Cambridge but formerly an old identity, of Mangatuna and Gisborne, come these pictures of herself and family. The top one is of five generations who are Bert Sinclair (grandfather), Mrs Carol Baker (mother), Mrs Sinclair (great-grandmother.) and Mrs Lunam (great-great-grandmother) holding Tony Baker. The picture below is of Mrs Nell Sinclair (grand-mother), Mrs Joe Lunam (great-grandmother), holding Tony Baker and Mrs Carol Baker on whose 21st birthday these pictures were taken.
