The $19,000 gymnasium at the Girls' High School was opened recently by the Mayor, Mr H. H. Barker. The 3,800 square foot building is the third school gymnasium built in the city within three years.

The weka pen in the botanical gardens has been completed and the roomy cage is just about ready for its inhabitants. It is hoped to have the first of the birds in the cage in the near future.

A novel restaurant and dining room was opened at Adairs Department store.
Called "The Top of Adairs" the completely new eating place is luxuriously furnished and has views of the city and sea through new windows.
