The fashion scene in Gisborne has certainly changed over the past decade, with the feminine hemline gradually creeping higher and higher. In 1957 this party frock with its full below-the-knees skirt, was a far cry from the mini-skirts of today. The picture was taken at a Day 'n' Dance fashion parade, and the model was Bette Armstrong.

1957 saw the departure for Australia of Mrs L. G. Elliot. better known to thousands of Gisborne children as "Aunt Daisy", who conducted children's sessions on the former Station 2XM for more than 20 years.
