Out and About

New Fire Engine...

The Gisborne Fire Brigade's new engine was delivered recently.

Built to specifications, the Bedford unit is capable of pumping 650 gallons of water per minute.

The unit (left) was given a trial at the wharves to test its capabilities, and (centre) the powerful and variable pumps are shown thrusting jets of water out into the harbour.

One From the Road...

This residence on the corner of Wainui and Coldstream Roads has again been in the news, being the object of another car's attentions.

This time the car left the road, went through the fence and straight into the room at the corner of the house.

It was most fortunate that no one was in the room at the time.

...And One from the Sea.

From Harry Macdonald we have this pic of a car being hoisted from the water at the boat ramp in the harbour by the swinging basin.

In the process of launching a boat, the car and trailer lost traction and ended up in the water.

Skin divers roped up the vehicle which was then pulled from the water by crane.
