Band Concert

Before taking part in the National Brass Band Contest in Wellington from May 12 to 15, the Gisborne Civic Band gave a concert in the Intermediate School Hall.

Mayor Harry Barker inspected the band before the concert which was conducted by bandmaster Mr D. Waugh.

The band did well in Wellington coming second in the hymn sectioh, third equal in the second test ("The Moor of Venice") and fourth in the music for brass band.

Brian Kelly was also placed second in the E flat brass solo.
