About People

A committee of six were invited to morning tea by the Field Officer and they in turn then invite five other people to morning tea. These five then individually invite four to tea and so on until the last one invites one.

With this method at a charge of 3/- per head, and providing everyone maintains the effort, the society hopes to raise £290.

The committee of six shown with the Field Officer, Mrs O. Hale (pouring), and the Society's committee representative Mrs F. E. Faulkner (right) are Mesdames G. Fox, G. C. Bremner, M. Sefton, J. Hawksworth, W. J. Muirhead and R. Cox.

The programme included films, discussion groups, displays and tours of Canberra's pre-school centres.

They are Gib Greening, second in the open section, Mrs May Carlyle, second in the C.W.I. section, Mrs Margaret Crawforth, first in the C.W.I. section and winner of the festival prize for the best play in the festival, Judy Bird with the junior shield and Fred Strickson, first in the open section.
