Governor-General'S Farewell Visit

Visiting Gisborne for the last time the Governor-General, Sir Bernard Fergusson, and Lady Fergusson, fulfilled a busy round of engagements.

Arriving by plane on April 7 they took a last look at the city from Kaiti Hill, officially opened the Boys' High School Assembly Hall and the H. B. Williams Memorial Library, visited clubs and attended a civic farewell in the evening, departing again the next morning.
