Our Cover

This month, Charyne Dolan, the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Bill Dolan, Waerenga-a-hika, is our cover girl.

The picture was taken at Wainui Beach.

Charyne, who is 18, works in Adairs' beauty bar, and, besides a keen interest in her work, has for her hobbies horse riding, sewing and surfing.

Back Cover. Two more pictures of local beaches are featured. The top picture was taken at Kaiti Beach, at the Yacht Club slipway, with our last month's cover girl, Robyn Williamson, ornamenting the foreground. The bottom picture shows the bay at Tolaga, with the camping ground at the north end. This was a project of the local Businessmen's Association, which prepared the ground, planted trees, and erected a water tank and ablution block. In return, we understand, camping fees are accepted by the "honesty box" system.

Displayed for us here by Dave Lee of Lee Bros fruit and plant shop is this heart-shaped potato.

Yes! we know! You can get all kinds of shaped spuds but the difference with this one is that it is a Cliff's Kidney.

We don't know how kindly Cliff has taken to his kidney being changed to a heart but maybe one day we'll hear.

The potato was grown by Bob Berge at Wainui from seed suplied by the Lee brothers.
