They were beaten by Palmerston North Boys' High School at Napier by 8 to 5.

This is the Te Aute College First XV of 1920, the side which played for the Moascar Cup for the first time.

Success for the Te Aute College First XV came five years later in 1925 when they won the Moascar Cup from New Plymouth Boys' High School at New Plymouth by 3 to nil.
