Plunket Gala
The Te Hapara branch of Plunket held a most successful gala day recently with all stalls doing brisk business.
A feature of the day was the Crawling Derby, a limited handicap event raced over a quarter of a furlong.
The winner of the event, Murray Wooster, is held by his mother, Mrs M. Wooster, while being crowned by Mrs L. Porter, president of the Te Hapara branch.
Second place-getter was Andrew Haigh, held by his grandmother, Mrs J. W. Whitehead.
Part of the packed stands for the event.
Some bound out to a good start, others stand back in the stalls and others are slow away
