Rock 'n Roll, the dance craze that started it all, came to Gisborne with a vengeance in December, 1956, when local boy Pat Corbett (pictured), fresh from a tour of Australia, conducted classes in the then controversial dance.
Ten years ago saw the laying of the foundation stone of the Wesley. Methodist Church, with a ceremony presided over by the Rev E. CLeadley (right), then minister of the church.
