Pot Pourri

A Dying Art. A New Zealander who has made good overseas is Mary Colbert, a member of the Colbert family of Te Puia Springs. She is a wig-maker who has lived and worked for the last fourteen years in Honolulu.

Mary learned her craft in England when she visited her mother's family in North Newcastle, where a friend of the family, who was a wig-maker, taught her.

After returning to New Zealand, on a boat trip to Australia, she met the owner of The Hair Clinic, Honolulu, who encouraged her to go to Hawaii, and now, after fourteen years in the business, is one of the foremost exponents of wigmaking and hair care.
