Hospital Week

Next week is Hospital Week in Gisborne, when a varied programme of events will throw the spotlight on the patients, staff and premises of Cook Hospital. The programme includes a church parade, shop displays, a drama and choral festival, a basketball tournament, a nurses' graduation ceremony, and the . annual hospital ball. Finally, the hospital will be thrown open to the public for two hours on September 3. Nurses from as far afield as Hastings, Napier and Wairoa will be competing in the basketball tournament, and there will be many visitors for this and other functions.

To mark the occasion our camera went on a quick tour of wards at the hospital and recorded this selection of pictures, emphasising the wide range of modern hospital attention given to all age groups.

Lack of mobility is compensated for Don McLauchlin by hobbie: such as making scarves. Radio (note earphones on wall) is also great boon.
