Mrs Alfreda Bugden, 28 Collins Street, wrote to the American publication Ladies Circle asking for penpals and tape exchanges. She didn't realise what she was letting herself in for as she has had over 80 replies. However, she has managed to get writers for most of them, and they range from farmers, truck drivers, secretaries and pilots to firemen, coast guards, teachers and chefs. Mrs Bugden reading one of the many letters.
