Our Cover

Rosemary Walker, daughter of Mrs V. Walker, 25 Herbert Road, and the late Mr H. W. Walker, returned home to Gisborne at the beginning of the year after working in Australia for the past four years. At present working in a city coffee bar, Rosemary is pictured with a background of 'Gisborne Gold'. Maize is one of the foremost crops of the district and the cribs full of the ripe cobs of grain after harvesting abound on the country landscape.

Back Cover: Still the centre of controversy, the Post Office, closed after the earthquake due to structural damage, presents quite an architectural pattern in red and white when viewed from the opposite corner of Reads Quay and Gladstone Road.
