Guy Fawkes Celebrated

Guy Fawkes night in Gisborne went off with its customary big bang with various organisations staging fires, fireworks displays, and guy competitions.

The two major events were at Alfred Cox Park, where four large fires attracted a considerable crowd, and Waikanae Beach, where the Gisborne Free Kindergarten held a successful celebration.

In addition to these public spectacles, countless private fires dotted the city.
