At the Spring Show

A record gate and attendance sealed the success of the Poverty Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Association's 85th annual Spring Show, which ran for two days at the Showgrounds last month.

Poor weather on the Friday and Saturday morning failed to curb the attendance of almost 9000 non-member patrons, who were justly rewarded in the afternoon with beautiful sunny weather.

The highlight of the show was, as usual, the grand parade, which saw hundreds of competitors parading in an enormous circle around the ring.

The trades section appeared to be slightly smaller than last year, but contained a wide variety of products.

Side-show alley was its usual bustling self, reverberating to the incessant sound of countless side-show barkers and booming loud speakers.
