Combined Team Victorious

In their final game before meeting the Springboks, the Poverty Bay-East Coast combined team narrowly defeated Bay of Plenty by 17 points to 15.

The game was one of extremes, the home side notching up 14 points to the visitors' three in the first half, but almost throwing the game away in the dying stages when Bay of Plenty ran rampage in a desperate effort to pass their opponents' total.
