Oddities Of Nature
The first lamb (known to Photo News) of the 1965 season was born last month to a pet Romney-cross ewe, owned by Mr George Dodd, on Mr Colin Kerr's property at Makaraka. Young Jackie Dodd is pictured with her new pet.
Mr N. C. Bartlett, 12 Owen Road, has a versatile hen, as can be seen by the range of different sized eggs it produced in a period of two days. The largest egg, which was three inches long, can be compared with a standard size one second from right.

Five white herons, which are considered very rare in this part of the country, were seen recently strutting about the Taruheru mud flats. Two of them are pictured with a seagull.
Mrs E. Tasker, 8 Byron Street, has several giant Dahlia bushes growing in her garden. The tallest, she claims, is 20ft high.
