Opportunity Shop

The Gisborne branch of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, a world-wide Catholic movement, recently opened an Opportunity Shop in Lowe Street, opposite the Government Buildings, trading in donated clothing and household items.

The goods are either sold to the public, or given to needy members of the community, at the discretion of the society's committee.

Profits from the shop are used to help operate such charitable causes as a relief Centre, an immigration hostel, and home and hospital visitation services.
