Here and There
Wives of butchers from throughout the country, who assembled in Gisborne last month for the annual New Zealand Meat Retailers' Federation conference, were given a guided tour of Watties Canneries during their sightseeing trip of the city. They are pictured, with the local wives in front, on the steps of Watties new office building.
King of the mushroomers this month would surely be Mr A. G. Ford, 50 MacDonald Street, who acquired this plateful of beauties from a short visit to the Whangara area.
Second prize-winner of the Boys' High School Gymnasium Fund swaps competition was Elizabeth Terekia, 13 year-old daughter of Mr and Mrs B. Terekia, 1 Clarence Street, who assembled a total of 540 swaps bearing a Post Office Thrift Club theme. Elizabeth is pictured showing her scrapbook of swap tickets to the Chief Postmaster, Mr W. D. Rawlinson.
