Dr Stanley Schumm, a United States geologist, recently made a one-day trip up the coast to inspect local erosion problems. Members of the inspection party were, from left: Messrs J. G. McKee, P.B. Catchment Board soil conservator, A. D. Todd, consultant engineer, Dr Schumm, A. P. Campbell, senior hydrologiit with the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council, of Wellington, and I. E. Jones, P.B.C.B. engineer.

Mr Barclay Jackson (right), Harris Street, was farewelled at a function at Ulverstone recently on his retirement after 43½ years from the firm of Dalgety and N.Z. Loan. He is pictured being presented with a television set by Mr F. Waugh, Gisborne branch manager, with Mrs Jackson at rear.

Mr H. C. Haines, former Gisborne branch manager of N.Z, Loan & Mercantile, who is now retired in Wellington, also made Mr Jackson a presentation.
