Squadron Re-Union

×

Many old friendships were renewed when over 100 veterans of air-crew and ground-staff who were members of 30 Squadron and Servicing Unit, R.N.Z.A.F., based at Gisborne during the war, gathered for their annual reunion recently. The unit was fortunate, that it trained and served overseas without losing its identity, which gives it closer ties of friendship than most.
This photograph shows members of the squadron assembled at the aerodrome for the short ceremony in memory of those of its number who died on active service. A wreath has been laid by Mr J. Bowden, and Mr R. Wakelin is raising the squadron ensign, while the Last Post is sounded. Saluting the flag is Squadron Leader N. Williamson, of Gisborne.
