Maori Hockey
The showgrounds presented a busy sight last month when the annual tournament of the Wairawhiti Hockey Federation was held.
The Lady Arihia Gold Cup was won by the Ngawaka team from the wairarapa. Ngawaka captain and secretary, Miss Awhina Kaeo and Miss Hemi, are shown holding the cup. Next is Mr Pahau Milner, patron of the association. Girls at right, the Misses Tuhura, are holding Pakanui Nihoniho Memorial Shield for runners-up, Takitimu. They are grand-daughters of Pakanui Nihoniho.

Senior men's trophy, Taranaki Teua Shield, is presented by Mr Milner to Mr Sid Smiler, who accepted it on behalf of the winners, the Waituhi team (Gisborne).
