The eminent British rose grower, Mr Harry Wheatcroft, visited Gisborne with his wife recently. During their stay, the couple paid a visit to the beds of beautiful roses adjacent to the City Council Chambers, which were grown from budwood supplied by their nursery more than eight years ago. Accompanying the Wheatcrofts were members of the Gisborne Rose Society, including Mrs R. Orchiston, who was responsible for importing the budwood and planting the beds. They are pictured admiring some of the roses. From left: Mrs Wheatcroft, Mrs Orchiston, Mr Wheatcroft, Mrs I. N. Coulston, Mr V. E. Davies (president Gisborne Rose Society), and Mr P.
