Fine weather and top-line artists assured the success of the open-air concerts at the Waikanae Beach sound shell during the holiday period.

Perhaps the most popular artists to appear were the Howard Morrison Quartet, who made their farewell performance to a crowd of some 5000.

The carnival ended its two-week season on a high note with the top New Zealand artist, Dinah Lee, as its star performer.
