A party of 25 Whatatutu Primary "School children made a one-day visit to the city recently to sightsee and visit factory and industrial establishments. They are pictured about to board the Whatatutu bus with driver, Mr Bill McGonigal, at left.

A happy picture was obtained when the children visited the Cook Memorial for lunch. Their teacher, Miss Jane Winter, and an accompanying parent, Mrs W. Spence, are at right.

Mr R. Sloan (left) secretary of the Gisborne R.S.A. with Mr and Mrs S. T. Samuel, of Nelson, admire the flourishing bed of roses in front of the War Memorial hall, in Bright Street. Mr Samuel, who is a member of the N.Z. Rose Society Council, donated the shrubs to the local society 18 months ago, and on his visit to the city last month was able to sec his own roses blooming several hundred miles away from home. Mr Samuel is also notable in chopping circles, having managed and chaperoned the N.Z. team to Australia in 1963.
