Magnificent "Gowns Of The Year"

Thirteen magnificent ball gowns were paraded with professional proficiency on the Opera House stage last month before large audiences of Gisborne womenfolk when Tarn Hill presented her 6th annual "Gown of the Year" contest.

Modelled by five of the country's top mannequins, the gowns were contesting the coveted "Tam Cochrane Trophy", which is presented each year to the designer of the winning entry.

Supporting the ball gown contest was a parade of new fashions ranging from swim suits to high fashion evening wear.

A Haute Couture Contest was included in the parade for the first time this year, the entries being judged by a panel of fashion experts from Melbourne, Australia.
