Indians Play Brilliant Hockey

The touring Indian hockey team players demonstrated their dazzling ability at their national sport when they soundly defeated the Poverty Bay team by seven goals to nil at the Childers Road Reserve last month.

Playing before a crowd of about 2500, the Indians never looked in trouble, but the Poverty Bay side provided some courageous opposition and at times showed flashes of brilliance on attack.

However, most of their play was spent on defence, a job they did with considerable ability.

Hero of the game from the home side's point of view was goal-keeper Tony Urselmann, who had a very busy day, and made some terrific saves in the face of the Indians' onslaught.
