Mission To Gisborne

Gisborne protestant churches combined last month to stage a "Mission to Gisborne" campaign, organised by the National Council of Churches.

The mission ran for a week, getting under way with a civic reception for visiting missioners by the City Council, and a parade through Gladstone Road on the Friday night.

During the week, services were conducted in the various churches and city halls by local clergymen and visiting missioners. Morning tea and luncheon meetings were also held.

The Catholic church held a two-week mission, conducted daily in St. Mary's Church by visiting priests.
