Mrs E. R. Renner, 83 Iranui Road, a very keen gardener, is pictured pruning an enormous rose bush in her front lawn. 15ft high, the bush is a Lorraine Lee shrub climber, and was imported from Australia 25-30 years ago. Its flowers are a soft pink colour.

Two Gisborne girls who recently graduated from the Dominion School for Dental Nurses, in Wellington, are: Helen Falkiner (left), daughter of Mr and Mrs N. L. Falkiner, 267 Clifford Street, and Jennifer Salmon, daughter of Mr and Mrs H. H. Salmon, 76 Stout Street. Helen has been posted to Waipawa, and Jennifer to Nelson.
