Remember the Maori house which used to stand about half way up the track to the Waihirere Falls?
Mr Hollamby's note with this negative says that the house was destroyed by fire not long after his picture was taken. This was probably 20 to 25 years ago.

Maori volunteers for service in World War II parading in Gisborne in 1940.
They are about to hear an address from the then Mayor, the late Mr D. W. Coleman, M.P.

This photograph taken by Mr Hollamby in 1938 shows a sign at the Childers Road end of the Peel Street line of trees.
The sign was in the process of being swallowed up by the tree. Where would it be now?
