Two members of the Gisborne Canoe and Tramping Club, Richard Foxley and Pam Wilson, who took part in the recent 50-mile walk, coming up the home straight in Gladstone Road after being on the march for just under 14 hours. At right is another competitor, Margaret Gibbons, who pulled out after 30 miles, but returned to pace the pair home. The winner of the walk, which had 15 starters, was Dick Powell, with a time of 12 hours, 41 minutes. Only five competitors finished.

Gisborne shearer Stewart Symon, wearing his N.Z. blazer with specially-designed monogram, waves goodbye at Darton field when leaving for his tour of Great Britain. He will compete in shearing championships at Bath, and West and Southern Counties' Show, at Swinton, Wiltshire.
