30 Squadron Service

Former airmen and ground crew from throughout New Zealand assembled in Gisborne during Queen's Birthday weekend for the 18th annual reunion of 30 Squadron....the R.N.Z.A.F. unit stationed at Darton Field during World War II.

A service was held on the Sunday morning at the memorial flagstaff at Darton Field, when a wreath was laid by Mr H. Lambie, of South Canterbury.

Among those present were, from left: Messrs H. J. Morton (Wellington), M. Andrews (Gisborne), B. McIvor (Gisborne), I. Walton (Gisborne), M. J. MacDonald (Ekatahuna), J. Bowden (Wellington), J. Thorburn (Hastings).

Watched by former members of the squadron, Pilot Officer B. Wotherspoon, of the Gisborne A.T.C., lowers the flag to half mast during the service.
